a little about me
Working from my home office in Brighton, Michigan, I split my time to support brand strategy for mission-driven organizations bring positive change and growth to their and our communities alongside the strong team of women at Piper & Gold Public Relations. I also make designs that people use in their homes or to celebrate their life events through graphic design, photography, illustrations and lettering on occasion for web-based e-commerce businesses.
Over the past several years, I also independently worked to support companies as a graphic design consultant through my small business Basil Design Studio. While I love helping businesses create a foundation for the brand to grow and learning more about different industries by filling in as a supportive role, I am not currently taking that work.
As I reorganize this website, the best way to see some of my work is to follow me on Pinterest and Instagram, where I am slightly worse than lazy when it comes to posting.

in a nutshell
I tweaked the order and first got a bachelor of science from Michigan State University (Urban and Regional Planning) and then went back for an Associates in Applied Arts from Lansing Community College before working to earn my master in business administration from Eastern Michigan University.
I started working in the Graphic Design & Mapping Unit at the Michigan Department of Transportation as a student, but was eventually hired to digitize and standardize the map publications that are distributed and available to the public. I worked with graphic designers and realized it was something I wanted to do more of. I combined what I knew about thus far (community and design) and began volunteering for local revitalization efforts in my neighborhood and along the corridor on marketing committees which turned into a leadership role as the organization formalized and moved forward.
That experience drove my interest in supporting entrepreneurs, small businesses and communities thrive through communications and design. Over the years, I’ve been able to support at the foundational levels through brand development and strategy to more day-to-day expressions of social media. I’ve been both a leader and crafter of large marketing campaigns with specific goals and intentions and on the more behind the scenes conversations that help share a story.
When I am not working for Piper & Gold Public Relations, I independently supported clients through my small consulting business Basil Design Studio.
